The Journey Of MARVEL vs DC

Marvel vs DC

This is probably the longest running battle of all time. In fact, in 20 years it'll reach it's 100 years mark.

Lets discuss the journey of Marvel vs DC

DC was initially a combination of the National Allied Publications and All American Publications. Their first published comic was New Fun - A Comic Book Magazine in 1934 whereas Marvel came to existence in 1938 and followed the same trend of superhero with lots of hope and ambition. Back then the comic book was not much of grown up's choice of conversation. It was created for writers to explore their imagination; sometimes they took it too far like Danny The Street(DC's bizarre character - an actual living street) or Eye Scream(Marvels weird character who can turn himself into Ice Cream) but keep this aside, too weird can be too great( For example The Joker).

Regardless, Battle has begun! In live action, Avengers may have been the first to unite a bunch of superheroes from the same universe but initially, it was JSA(Justice Society of America) introduced in the DC comics in 1940. The reason why many people didn't know about them because it didn't have any 'A-list' characters other than the flash. There is no shortage of fun facts about DC and Marvel from their inception. It is probably never-ending battle; Marvel(Disney) created a huge empire and DC is responsible for comics books are still alive but no matter what happens there should always have DC vs Marvel.

The reason I am so invested in this fight or some of you might say that my intent is to encourage this battle because of the event that was occurred in 1984 Marvel was doing extremely well and DC was struggling for many years, so head of the DC comics, Warner Communications, contacted president of Marvel in order to give them publishing rights of DC's characters such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and so on. At a time Marvel had a market share of almost 70% whereas DC had only 20%. The reason why this deal never happened because it might lead to some serious consequences like Marvel owning almost an entire market with no competition whatsoever. Now, DC and Marvel own equal market share, in fact, DC comics sold way more in 2017 as compared to Marvel and remaining market shares earn by Image Comics, Dark Horse & Others.

I can sense that you may think I am a sadist, enjoying a bunch of people fighting over made up characters but hear me out. How would you feel if you were forced to play the same game over and over without any update or without any or new level? Okay, I admit on paper this idea may seem pretty okay with the current Marvel movies success but try to give a little bit of thought to this idea that I am trying to project. The reason this battle(Marvel vs DC) is going on and will be continued afterward because you cannot get best out of someone without motivation or ambition.

Indian viewers may relate to this, which cricket match is better to watch? India vs Pakistan or India vs Afghanistan? now for those who did not understand that comparison competition is what kept the human race alive. Animals in jungle fight for survival many centuries ago humans was also part of that competition but they grew themselves out of it.

A few days ago, tragedy hit the comic book world. The legend, the greatest, the best, a lovable and passionate person named Stan Lee passed away. Technically he is not at all related to me, I didn't cry when he died or didn't even knew he was unwell, yet his news of passing away was heartbreaking. Every living thing must come to an end and it's not like he died in his 30's, he lived his life. He inspired a lot of people, worked hard in ups and downs of marvel movie failures but he never gave up. I just hope he would've given one last cameo in everyone's life when they think they lost and there's is no turning back.

Marvel and DC reached a new level now. Both establish there place in the market. Where marvel movies are beloved by critics and fans & DC movies struggling, despite all that DC comic books are doing pretty great compared to marvel.

This battle/war/competition is never gonna end as far as upcoming DC movies go like Aquaman and Shazam. The table might turn or marvel may come up with even better things like Captain MarvelFar from Home who knows? But as an audience member, I would happy to enjoy their rivalry.
